Salute to the honorable Queen Nzinga. Queen Nzinga witnessed the Portuguese invasion in Southern Congo, Ndongo and Matamba. She took over military operations and organized the armed forces to battle against the invading Portuguese and the Dutch. Her political acumen was showcased beautifully as she played one European group against the other in order to defeat the invaders.
Nzinga and her army freed all slaves in Ndongo and Matamba and convinced the Jaga, an African group who betrayed their own and captured slaves for Europeans, to discontinue their betrayel and rejoin the African family.
Queen Nzinga was never defeated and it wasn't until her death that European forces were finally able to take control.
